Streaming Defenses- Week 17

We should expect Atlanta and possibly a few other playoff bound teams to be resting their starters come week seventeen. This will clearly impact which defenses can be relied upon in the last week of the regular season.

Analysis: An interesting defense to take a look at is the Chargers defensive unit. They have played well this year and have Oakland in week seventeen. We don’t know what the status of Carson Palmer will be but we do know that the Raiders haven’t scored over 20 points in a game since week nine. San Diego’s defense is in the top five of the NFL in sacks and ranks in the top half of the league in takeaways, interceptions, yards allowed and points against.

The Bills are another team to take a look at this week. They are at home against the Jets in week seventeen and that is always good news. The Jets rank in the bottom five of the NFL in points per game, yards per game and giveaways. It is a risk starting the Buffalo D especially when considering they turn the ball over a ton and struggle to put up points and dictate games but they are worth a look.

Streaming Defenses- Week 9

For the second week in a row the San Diego Chargers are the team of choice to stream.

Analysis: Whether you are looking for a defense to stream or need a fill in for the Niners or Jets, the Chargers have a great matchup Thursday against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Kansas City offense ranks 28th in points per game and 32nd in turnover margin. The Chiefs have only scored more than 20 points just twice in seven games this year. In short, the Chiefs are just plain awful on offense.

Meanwhile, the Charger defense has been solid this year. The San Diego D ranks 10th in yards per game, 9th in points per game, 13th in interceptions, 4th in forced fumbles and 6th in fumble recoveries. This is a defense that is still widely available in fantasy leagues while squads like the Cowboys and Bengals still get plenty of love in the fantasy world. The Chargers do need to step it up in the sack/pressure department but they are solid and have only had two bad fantasy games this year which were against the Saints and Falcons.

Streaming Defenses- Week 8

With the Baltimore Ravens, Houston Texans and Cincinnati Bengals on their bye this week it is imperative to choose the right defense in week eight.

Analysis: Whether you like to stream or need a fill in defense this week it appears that the squad of choice just may be the San Diego Chargers who are coming off of a bye. The Chargers are a top 12 fantasy defense this year while playing high powered teams like Atlanta, New Orleans and Denver. San Diego is in Cleveland this week against the Browns who only managed to put up 13 points on the Colts in week seven.

With the San Diego D you have a unit that is 11th in the NFL in interceptions, 6th in forced fumbles and 5th in fumble recoveries. The Browns on the other hand have Brandon Weeden at quarteback with 10 interceptions in seven games this year. Weeden is also sporting a 72.3 passer rating and a completion percentage of 56%. The Browns are 21st in points per game with the 30th ranked rushing attack so all signs point to a solid San Diego performance in week eight.
