Solid Debut For Turner

Evan Turner made his Indiana Pacer debut Tuesday night in a win over the Lakers.

Analysis: Turner notched 13 points on 6 of 12 shooting, he also recorded 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. Turner is coming off the bench but he was on the end of 26 minutes of floor time. Turner was putting up 17.4 PPG and 6.0 RPG in 35 minutes per night as a starter in Philly. If he can stay above 25 minutes or so he will remain a must own fantasy shooting guard/small forward.

Before Evan Turner even had a chance to suit up for the Pacers he was already being dropped in a significant amount of leagues. Yes, he’s weak in threes but he’s getting to the line a ton this year and his steals and assists are also up. Keep in mind that the Pacers don’t have any solid options at the two or three coming off the bench. It’s also a positive sign that Turner logged 26 minutes in his debut because Danny Granger logged more than 26 minutes just once in his final 15 games as a Pacer.

Currently, Turner is available in 2-7% of fantasy leagues.

Stick With Turner

Evan Turner is being dropped from many leagues across the country while he still continues to produce.

Analysis: Just because Turner is not dropping twenty-five points every game does not justify dropping the shooting guard/small forward from your fantasy squad. Evan Turner is averaging 5.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 31.8 minutes of floor time in his last ten games. Any shooting guard getting thirty plus minutes of playing time with his talent needs to be owned. Yes, he’s only averaging ten points per game in that stretch but his field goal percentage is a respectable 44% and is at 50% in his last four games. The man still gets his fair share of assists(2.6 p/g) yet he is only owned in about thirty percent of fantasy leagues.

All Turner has to do is take more shots and then …boom …he’s back. In the Sixers last two games Jodie Meeks is 5 for his last 16, Young 6 for 16, Hawes 5 for 17 and Holiday is 6 for his last 19 shots. Evan Turner needs to start taking over, he’s got a hot hand while the rest of the Sixers do not. He’s still a solid option in all leagues but do not be surprised when he catches fire again.

Last Call On Evan Turner

Evan Turner has posted two twenty-four plus point games in his last three contests. Turner is the hot commodity on the waiver wire at the moment.

Analysis: Evan Turner’s three game hot streak is rather impressive. His stat line looks like- 22.0 points per game, 12.0 rebounds per game with 3.3 assists per game. Turner’s free throw shooting has been over eighty percent over the past week which is a huge turn around considering he is shooting 66% from the stripe this year. Turner has gotten at least thirty-two minutes in his last four games and he has responded well. He is shooting well from the field but he will never be a three point shooter. Turner is only averaging 0.2 3PM this year and you really would like your shooting guards and small forwards to be solid in the three ball department. Regardless, Turner is a solid rebounder at 5.9 RPG this year.

Evan Turner is available in a little over fifty percent of fantasy leagues and he is going fast. His points potential with his rebounding is rare to find on the wire at this point in the NBA season. He may not hit threes or get tons of steals but he makes a great add or a solid sell high option.
