Week 2 TE Recap

Delanie Walker was targeted 14 times Sunday against the Cowboys. He recorded 10 receptions for 142 yards and 1 touchdown. He also scored a touchdown against the Chiefs in week one. Delanie is one of those guys that is better in real life than in fantasy… the anti Matthew Stafford. You are going to get some of those 3 reception, 37 yard games like in week one. The touchdowns are hard to project but Delanie did score 6 touchdowns last year in 15 games. He has 8 total touchdowns in 17 games with the Titans… not bad. He is available in 25-30% of fantasy leagues. Delanie is a hit or miss low end TE1.

Larry Donnell is one of the few players on the Giants that is bringing it. Donnell caught 7 balls on 9 targets for 81 yards today against the Cardinals. Through two games he has 12 receptions, 17 targets, 137 yards and 1 touchdown. He leads the Giants in receptions, targets and receiving yards. The New York ground game has been absolute trash for the first two games so it appears that the Giants will be passing a ton this year. Donnell is available in 65-99% of fantasy leagues.

Week 2 WR Recap

Kelvin Benjamin is a star in the making. Last week he recorded 6 receptions for 92 yards and a touchdown. This week he was targeted 8 times for just 2 receptions and 46 receiving yards. He had a few drops and a spectacular one arm sideline grab. He is still raw but he is a fantasy must own… period. Keep in mind that three of the four Carolina running backs are banged up at the moment. Cam Newton will pass more this season because of that fact and also through the natural NFL maturation process. This is Cam’s fourth year and Carolina is ready to become a balanced or even a pass first team this season. Benjamin has had 8 targets in each game this year so expect 8-10 per game going forward. Benjamin is available in 5-40% of fantasy leagues.

Andrew Hawkins will be getting tons of attention later in the week. In week one he recorded 8 receptions for 87 yards and this week he put up 6 receptions for 70 yards. He has 22 total targets in his first two games. Hawkins cannot sustain this pace but you cannot ignore the targets and you have to ride the hot streak while it lasts. Hawkins is available in 50-85% of fantasy leagues.

Streaming Defenses- Week 2

Week one is officially over and now it is time to take a look at our “team to stream” in week two.

Analysis: The Houston defense was the best fantasy defense in week one against the Redskins. Houston allowed just 6 points, forced 2 turnovers and recorded 3 sacks. Houston is on the road in week two against the Oakland Raiders. The Raiders only put 14 points on the board against the Jets and averaged 1.7 yards per carry on 15 attempts. Rookie Derek Carr looked fine but he is still a rookie. The Houston D is available in 50-60% of fantasy leagues.

The Tennessee Titans make a fine secondary option this week. The Titans have an underrated defensive unit and they are at home against the Cowboys this week. The Cowboys had 4 turnovers in week one and have had 11 turnovers in their last four regular season games. Romo’s passer rating on the road was 8 points lower than his mark at home last year and his completion percentage was 7 points lower on the road. The Titans D is available in 98% of fantasy leagues.

Week 1 TE Recap

Martellus Bennett continues to put up solid numbers. Last year he recorded 759 receiving yards and 5 touchdowns. Today against the Bills he caught 8 balls on 10 targets for 70 yards and 1 touchdown. Bennett was the 8th most targeted tight end last year and finished 9th in receiving yards. He is available in 7-10% of fantasy leagues.

Jared Cook will not be consistent this season. His quarterback situation is awful and his elite athleticism cannot make up for that. In week one he posted 4 receptions on 8 targets for 56 receiving yards. He has big play upside and is a touchdown threat but he remains an undervalued TE2. Cook is available in 75-90% of fantasy leagues.

And now we have that trusty old Jaguar… Marcedes Lewis. In week one Lewis caught 6 balls on 9 targets for just 35 receiving yards. He caught 4 touchdowns in 11 games last year and has 18 touchdowns in his last 58 games played. He remains one of the very few Jacksonville red zone threats. When Blake Bortles finally gets the nod Lewis’ value will rise into high end TE2 territory. Lewis is available in 90-99% of fantasy leagues.

Week 1 RB Recap

Justin Forsett was explosive for the Ravens in week one against the Bengals. Bernard Pierce had 6 carries for 14 yards and 1 fumble lost while Forsett had 11 carries for 70 yards and a touchdown. Forsett also had 5 receptions on 6 targets. Ray Rice will be out another week and it will be interesting to see how Baltimore uses Forsett Thursday night against the Steelers.

Knowshon Moreno carried the rock 24 times for 134 yards and a touchdown. He is available in up to 4% of fantasy leagues. Lamar Miller is more widely available in the 4-12% range. Miller carried the ball 11 times and had 4 receptions with a touchdown. In total, Lamar Miller had 15 touches for 78 yards. He is a factor at this point.

Shonn Greene led the Titans with 15 carries. Dexter McCluster had 9 and Bishop Sankey had 6 totes. Greene had a solid 71 rushing yards on those 15 carries although he was not targeted in the passing game. Shonn is available in 10-45% of fantasy leagues. He should be owned and is a RB3/Flex option at this point. He does have the weak Dallas D at home in week two.
