Streaming Defenses- Week 2

Week one is officially over and now it is time to take a look at our “team to stream” in week two.

Analysis: The Houston defense was the best fantasy defense in week one against the Redskins. Houston allowed just 6 points, forced 2 turnovers and recorded 3 sacks. Houston is on the road in week two against the Oakland Raiders. The Raiders only put 14 points on the board against the Jets and averaged 1.7 yards per carry on 15 attempts. Rookie Derek Carr looked fine but he is still a rookie. The Houston D is available in 50-60% of fantasy leagues.

The Tennessee Titans make a fine secondary option this week. The Titans have an underrated defensive unit and they are at home against the Cowboys this week. The Cowboys had 4 turnovers in week one and have had 11 turnovers in their last four regular season games. Romo’s passer rating on the road was 8 points lower than his mark at home last year and his completion percentage was 7 points lower on the road. The Titans D is available in 98% of fantasy leagues.

Streaming Defenses- Week 10

Week nine is officially over and now it’s time to take a look at our “team to stream” in week ten.

Analysis: The Tennessee Titans are at home this week against the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars. Chad Henne will continue to start at quarterback for the 0-8 Jags. Henne is sporting a 75.3 passer rating this year and has 5 interceptions to only 3 touchdowns. The Jacksonville offense did get a bit of life when Justin Blackmon returned from suspension but once again he is suspended and will enter a rehab facility for substance abuse.

The Jags are 32nd in the NFL in yards per game, 32nd in points per game(10.8), 27th in plays over forty yards and they have allowed the 6th most sacks. The Titans defense is pretty solid. They rank 9th in points per game against, 11th in yards allowed, 17th in sacks and 2nd in fumble recoveries. The Titans D/ST is available in 60-80% of fantasy leagues.

Another team to take a look at this week is the Miami defense against the Tampa Bay Bucs. Miami has played good defense in their last few games against solid offenses(CIN,NE) and rank 9th in interceptions and 10th in sacks. The Miami D is available in 80-90% of fantasy leagues.

Streaming Defenses- Week 9

Week eight is in the books and now it’s time to take a look at the “team to stream” in week nine.

Analysis: This week we will take the Oakland defense at home against the Philadelphia Eagles. Nick Foles should get the start for the Eagles and he is still a big question mark. Foles struggled in his last start against the Cowboys. He was 11 for 29 passing and was sacked 3 times before leaving with the concussion. Despite Philly ranked 5th in the NFL in yards per game the Eagles are just 18th in points per game(22.0/game).

The Oakland defense has been a top ten fantasy defense in its last four games(PIT,KC,SD,WSH). The Raiders are 10th in the NFL in yards allowed per game, 12th in points per game against, 15th in sacks and 9th in fumble recoveries. The Raiders D/ST is available in 85-95% of fantasy leagues.

The Titans defense is another one to check out, they are at St. Louis in week nine. The Rams are 30th in yards per game and 23rd in points per game this year. The Rams also have a short week while the Titans have been resting on their bye. The Titans D/ST is available in 65-80% of fantasy leagues.

Streaming Defenses- Week 15

Week 15 is one interesting week in regards to the defensive fantasy match-ups.

Analysis: The Baltimore defense is struggling at the moment and it may get even worse when Denver visits this coming week. Denver is averaging 28.8 points per game which is third best in the NFL. Peyton Manning is on fire and Denver is riding an eight game winning streak. Baltimore on the other hand did just give up 31 points to Washington and 23 to Charlie Batch and the Steelers.

An interesting alternative to starting the Ravens’ D is the Titans. The Titans have the train wreck that is the New York Jets this week. The Jets are 26th in points per game, 29th in passing yards and are 30th with 26 giveaways on the year.

Another solid option is the Detroit defense. The Lions have Arizona in week 15 and if they haven’t mentally checked out it could be a big fantasy day. The Cardinals are on a nine game losing streak and have scored a total of 6 points over their last two games. Both the Titans and Lions are worth checking out since teams like Baltimore and Atlanta(vs. NYG) are playing such tough opponents.
