Streaming Defenses- Week 4

Week three is officially over and now it is time to take a look at our “team to stream” in week four.

Analysis: This week the pick is the Miami defense on the road in Oakland. This is pretty much a must win for the 1-2 Dolphins because 9-7(Chargers) may not be enough this year to make the playoffs in the AFC. Regardless, the Raiders are last in the NFL in yards, last in points per game and 26th in turnover margin. Rookie Derek Carr has just three touchdown passes this season and is sporting a 74.9 passer rating. The Oakland ground game is equally awful. The Raiders are 23rd in yards per carry and 31st in rushing yards.

The Miami defense has been fine this season despite the 1-2 record. Miami is 9th in yards allowed, 3rd in sacks, 2nd in forced fumbles and 3rd in fumble recoveries. It is disappointing that Dannell Ellerbe will miss the season but the Dolphins have a stacked front seven. The Miami D is available in 98% of fantasy leagues.

Another team to consider this week is the Detroit Lions on the road against the Jets. Geno Smith has thrown 4 picks, has been sacked 6 times, lost 1 fumble and has a 77.0 passer rating through three games.

Streaming Defenses- Week 15

Week fourteen is officially over and now it is time to take a look at our “team to stream” in week fifteen.

Analysis: This week we will take the Jacksonville defense at home against the Buffalo Bills. The Jaguars are on a three game win streak and much of it can be attributed to their improved defense. Jacksonville has 8 sacks and have forced 6 turnovers in that three game span. They are far from a dominant unit but they have been playing very well as of late.

The Bills on the other hand struggle mightily on the road(1-5). EJ Manuel is only completing 52% of his passes on the road and his road passer rating is just 57.2. Manuel has 9 passing touchdowns to his credit to go along with 10 turnovers in nine games this season. The Bills have averaged just 11 points per game in their last three road games. Overall for the season the Bills rank 23rd in total yards, 25th in points and 24th in sacks allowed. The Jacksonville D/ST is available in 99% of fantasy leagues.

Another team of note this week is the Miami defense at home against the Patriots. Miami is 5th in the NFL in sacks and 5th in interceptions while New England has struggled in recent weeks with Houston and Cleveland.

Streaming Defenses- Week 13

Week twelve is officially over and now it is time to take a look at our “team to stream” in week thirteen.

Analysis: This week we will take a solid Miami defense on the road against the Jets. We are going to ride our “Geno Smith is garbage” train another week here. Smith has 18 interceptions, 8 fumbles and 4 lost fumbles in eleven games this season. He’s been sacked 37 times and has a 62.1 passer rating. For those of you who need some perspective- JaMarcus Russell’s career passer rating was 65.2 and he “only” threw 23 interceptions in 31 games played. The Jets are 31st in points per game, 27th in yards per game and 32nd in turnover margin.

The Dolphins aren’t that bad of a team. In the last two weeks against Carolina and San Diego they have only allowed 36 total points. The Miami defense is 10th in points allowed, 11th in sacks and 6th in interceptions. The Dolphins D/ST is available in 70-90% of fantasy leagues.

Another team of note this week is the Cleveland defense against Jacksonville. The Jags may be coming off a win but they have only managed to put up 12.9 points per game this year and 27 points in their last two games which coincides with their yearly mark. Chad Henne has 1 touchdown pass and 4 picks in his last three games.

Streaming Defenses- Week 10

Week nine is officially over and now it’s time to take a look at our “team to stream” in week ten.

Analysis: The Tennessee Titans are at home this week against the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars. Chad Henne will continue to start at quarterback for the 0-8 Jags. Henne is sporting a 75.3 passer rating this year and has 5 interceptions to only 3 touchdowns. The Jacksonville offense did get a bit of life when Justin Blackmon returned from suspension but once again he is suspended and will enter a rehab facility for substance abuse.

The Jags are 32nd in the NFL in yards per game, 32nd in points per game(10.8), 27th in plays over forty yards and they have allowed the 6th most sacks. The Titans defense is pretty solid. They rank 9th in points per game against, 11th in yards allowed, 17th in sacks and 2nd in fumble recoveries. The Titans D/ST is available in 60-80% of fantasy leagues.

Another team to take a look at this week is the Miami defense against the Tampa Bay Bucs. Miami has played good defense in their last few games against solid offenses(CIN,NE) and rank 9th in interceptions and 10th in sacks. The Miami D is available in 80-90% of fantasy leagues.

Streaming Defenses- Week 7

With week six officially over it’s time to take a look at the “team to stream” in week seven.

Analysis: This week we will take the Miami Dolphins coming off a bye week at home against the Buffalo Bills. Buffalo quarterback Thad Lewis was serviceable in week six at home against the Bengals but he did get banged up and playing on the road is a different animal altogether. Miami pass rusher Cameron Wake is expected to play this week which is always a plus for the eight point favorite Dolphins.

Miami is a middle of the road defensive team in most statistical categories. They have performed well from a fantasy perspective with the exception of the Monday night game in New Orleans. Before Miami’s bye this past week they held Joe Flacco to a 73.6 passer rating and also held Ray Rice to a 2.7 yards per carry average on 27 rushing attempts. As for the Buffalo offense- we don’t know much. Thad Lewis isn’t expected to light it up on the road and CJ Spiller has been a non-factor with the ankle injury.

The Dolphins D/ST is available in 80-90% of fantasy leagues.
