Week 13 WR Recap

Brian Hartline and Kendall Wright continue to put up solid fantasy numbers in week thirteen.

Analysis: Brian Hartline caught 9 balls on 15 targets for 127 yards and a score Sunday afternoon against the Jets. Hartline now has four consecutive 55-plus receiving yard games. He also has 24 receptions in that four game span. Hartline is available in 40-70% of fantasy leagues.

Kendall Wright had himself another fine ball game Sunday against the Colts. Wright put up 77 receiving yards on 6 receptions and 11 targets. Wright now has four consecutive 75-plus receiving yard games and has 28 receptions in that four game span. He’s on pace to put up more than 1,100 yards but he has only found the end zone twice this year. Wright has top 25 fantasy wide out numbers yet he still isn’t getting much love. He’s available in 10-60% of fantasy leagues.

Jacoby Jones is the long shot add this week. Jones has a touchdown, 8 receptions, 13 targets and 156 receiving yards in his last two games. He’s a high risk/high reward fantasy option but he may be of some use with just four weeks remaining in the season. Jones is available in 85-95% of fantasy leagues.

Stock Rising- Henson

John Henson is off to a productive start in his second professional NBA season.

Analysis: Henson was an elite shot blocker at UNC but it took some time and muscle to acclimate to the pro game down low. It appears Henson has it figured out, he is posting a solid line at this point in the season- 2.1 BPG, 5.9 RPG, 10.1 PPG, 52% FG%. Henson is 6th in the NBA in blocks per game despite playing just twenty-four minutes per game.

The blocks and field goal percentage will remain solid but expect the rebounds to increase. In fact, Henson is averaging nearly eight boards per game in his last five games. He can be a real difference maker in the blocks department but like many other big men he does struggle at the line. He’s shooting just 60% from the stripe this year on about two attempts per game. He shot below 50% from the line in his two years at UNC and he shot 53% last year as a rookie, so we are seeing progress. At the moment he is available in 30-60% of fantasy leagues.

Streaming Defenses- Week 13

Week twelve is officially over and now it is time to take a look at our “team to stream” in week thirteen.

Analysis: This week we will take a solid Miami defense on the road against the Jets. We are going to ride our “Geno Smith is garbage” train another week here. Smith has 18 interceptions, 8 fumbles and 4 lost fumbles in eleven games this season. He’s been sacked 37 times and has a 62.1 passer rating. For those of you who need some perspective- JaMarcus Russell’s career passer rating was 65.2 and he “only” threw 23 interceptions in 31 games played. The Jets are 31st in points per game, 27th in yards per game and 32nd in turnover margin.

The Dolphins aren’t that bad of a team. In the last two weeks against Carolina and San Diego they have only allowed 36 total points. The Miami defense is 10th in points allowed, 11th in sacks and 6th in interceptions. The Dolphins D/ST is available in 70-90% of fantasy leagues.

Another team of note this week is the Cleveland defense against Jacksonville. The Jags may be coming off a win but they have only managed to put up 12.9 points per game this year and 27 points in their last two games which coincides with their yearly mark. Chad Henne has 1 touchdown pass and 4 picks in his last three games.

Selling High- Cook/Myers

Jared Cook and Brandon Myers had big games in week twelve but it is unlikely they can sustain it in the future.

Analysis: Jared Cook caught 4 balls on 5 targets for 80 yards and a touchdown against the Bears this week. Cook has not had a five reception game since week three when Sam Bradford was quarterback for the Rams. This was also Cook’s first 50-plus receiving yard game since week one. To make matters worse, Kellen Clemens has only completed 19 passes in the last two games for the Rams. The targets, receptions and yards will not be reliable going forward. Cook is available in 30-50% of fantasy leagues.

Brandon Myers caught a touchdown Sunday afternoon against Dallas and recorded 39 receiving yards. Myers is owned in 20-70% of fantasy leagues despite having an awful year. He has not surpassed 45 receiving yards since week two and has one touchdown(today) since week one. Lower tier tight ends like Brandon Pettigrew and Heath Miller have been outperforming Myers for months yet are available in more leagues.

Week 12 WR Recap

Nate Burleson returns from injury while James Jones and Jarrett Boykin benefit from the Scott Tolzien benching.

Analysis: Nate Burleson was having a solid season up until his arm “injury.” In the three games prior to his injury Burleson caught 19 balls on 23 targets. He was back at it again Sunday posting 7 receptions on 10 targets for 77 yards and a score. He is the clear cut number two option in the Detroit passing game which makes him a must add. At the moment Burleson is available in 65-97% of fantasy leagues.

Matt Flynn stepped in for Scott Tolzien and no one benefited more than James Jones. Jones caught 7 balls on 12 targets for 80 yards. It may not matter if Aaron Rodgers returns this coming week in regards to Jones’ fantasy value as long as Matt Flynn is at the helm. Jones is available in 5-10% of fantasy leagues.

Another wide out getting lost in the Aaron Rodgers/Scott Tolzien/Matt Flynn mess is Jarrett Boykin. Boykin recorded 60 receiving yards and a touchdown on Sunday afternoon against the Vikes. Boykin now has five 60-plus receiving yard days in his last six games, he also has 2 touchdowns in that span. Boykin is still available in 5-50% of fantasy leagues.
